Welcome to SED, Sustainable Built Environment Debate

Welcome to the Sustainable Built Environment Debate

Why SED?

There are few if any platforms where there is an ongoing engagement relating to legal lifestyle, networking and mentorship. This is basically a creative library to transfer ideas, experiences and dialogue.

My experience mostly lies in all aspects relating to sustainability and sustainable environment. I have extensive practical experience in the field of environmental consulting, environmental and occupational health audits and campaigns. As a practicing advocate at the Johannesburg Bar, I work with attorneys and clients on matters from mining, construction, environmental and administrative, town planning and procurement. I have done my Masters in environmental law - which included water, biodiversity, mining, occupational health and town planning law. It is a vast subject. I am currently doing my Doctorate specialising in environmental and construction law. Besides academic studies - nothing compares to experience. Usually the practical reality is far removed from the legislated intention.

I am also involved in SABWiL (South African Black Women in Law) which offers training, mentorship and a moot court experience. I genuinely believe that the key to unlocking most of the socio-economic problems experienced, particularly in the legal fraternity is a lack of hands on mentorship. This should be happening from High School and Varsity upwards.
